I am so very glad I left eBay back in 2005 as the changes and policies are overwhelming to sellers. I realized so many years ago that eBay was becoming an eCommerce site rather than an auction site for small sellers.

It was obvious where eBay was headed when they started promoting others advertisements on my product inventory pages and my home page. It was easy for me to see what a fool I would be to continue paying eBay to list my items and allow them to advert other companies and eBay sellers products in close proximity on the very same page as mine. Actually, if I had continued to pay eBay while they advertised others items of the same type and product styles, I would be an idiot.

It amazed me how many sellers allowed eBay to get away with displaying adverts with the same products at cheaper prices on their listing and home pages. I could only think that eBay was too large of their percent income. Therefore, they could not end their items listings and continued selling on eBay.

The fees eBay charged were increasing as they continued to advertise others’ products. Smaller sellers experienced greater hardship as the profit decreased in great amounts.

Basically, eBay was charging sellers fees to list their items in addition to receiving income from advertisers all in one swoop. Yes, it was a great idea for eBay, but a very bad one for a seller. I actually felt like I was paying fees to have other seller ads on my listings.

I could not continue to patronize such a policy and program. It would ruin my business. Therefore, I moved to the Internet with my informational digital products and writings. That was the best move I have ever done.

I have had a website presence since 1998, however, it was not always selling informational digital products the same as I was on eBay.

Once I implemented my digital products on the World Wide Web, I enjoyed greater prosperity than eBay ever offered.

If you are a seller on eBay and do not have an Internet presence, you should take action immediately to do so. It does take some time to learn how to market your products. However, there are many avenues to promote your inventory or services.

This eBay seller discontinued sales on eBay after finding other venues. Basically, they discovered how to increase sales more than they had ever experienced on eBay.

Many sellers prefer Amazon for the reason their sales are greater with less fees and difficulty.

Amazon is a partner in business and having a greater interest in its sellers than eBay provides. Amazon’s focus is to assist sellers with their product sales. Naturally, Amazon also focuses on buyers’ protection.

Amazon’s overall business model and company has been strategically developed over the years versus eBay’s ever changing strategy that many times will interfere with Sellers capabilities and options to increase sales.

I think the leading difference in performance between eBay and Amazon is that Amazon has been a marketplace from inception.

They continue to execute that focal point.

Originally, eBay was an exceptional auction site. However, over the years they have targeted a fixed price marketplace, along with advertising sales. eBay has introduced many stumbling blocks for sellers. It is a significant reason why eBay has lost many sellers and buyers over the past years.

It is possible to have of a very special item that many buyers bid for or purchase at a very high price.

CAVEAT: However, the reality of this easily occurring may not be too realistic. Earning fortunes overnight are not factual.

There are occurrences where a seller has purchased or owned items that for a very low price and then resells them at a much higher price.

However, you most likely will not make a fortune overnight.

If you have antiques you are willing to sell, it is possible to receive a high price over the auction period. Yet, fortunes overnight are not a matter-of-fact.

Another Media Company Closes on eBay.

Kevin Harmon started Inflatable Madness in 2002 up against 20 plus other businesses also selling media (DVDs, CDs, video games, and books) on eBay.

As of 12/17/2009 he is no longer selling any items on eBay.

Although he maintained profitable sales on Amazon versus eBay, he decided to close the business.

What were his reasons:

The first reason was he decided to pursue other means and become VP for another company.

In his interview with Auction Bytes, he decided to close shop for a few different reasons. However, much of his decision was based upon the actual conditions and circumstances selling on eBay and its policy variants over the past years.

He states he "got pummeled this year on all fronts.."

He describes such areas as the credit market squeeze influencing his ability to borrow and buy products along with a reduced retail sales environment.

He also describes his analysis of marketplace media sales will do much better selling on Amazon or Half.com. The main reason is that you pay for items when they sell.

The E-Fencing Enforcement Act of 2008 was introduced into the House of Representatives in the summer of 2008.

This legislation effects auction sites like eBay and others to retain information on high-volume sellers including offering this information to retailers and law enforcement officials in cases where police reports have been filed.

Additionally, there was the Organized Retail Crime Act of 2008 introduced, (H. R. 6491), which would require auction sites to pool resources with retailers and police; and, allow retailers to sue those involved with stolen products.

How many times can the same legislation be introduced and duplicated? Can't the lawmakers talk to one another and stop wasting all the time and efforts that spend tax payer dollars on duplicate legislation.

Discriminatory against online businesses?

Lawmakers Introduce legislation to Combat Stolen Products on eBay, Amazon, and other online market places.

The vast amount of online sales of Stolen goods is causing lawmakers to launch new legislation to try and prevent the illegal selling of these products.

Somehow, I wonder why new legislation is necessary, when there are already laws on record making it illegal to steal products from on-site retail locations and for retail stores to sell stolen goods!

Wait–don't those laws apply to online stolen goods also?

I would think so; yet, to listen to your lawmakers, they seem to feel there are new laws to be written and placed into legislative law!

Sounds like discrimination to me; however, I am always open to discussion to make me see other aspects in any issue or subject matter.

I simply–hope lawmakers and legislators would pay more attention to our economy being in such dire needs for resolution to the current downturn of regular sales; and, ways and means to rejuvenate legal sales of products.

Our lawmakers seem to busy themselves with requirements that are not a priority.

The facts are:

There are three major bills that were introduced on February. 25, 2009 sponsored by Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the Organized Retail Crime Act of 2009, sponsored by Rep. Brad Ellsworth of Indiana, and the E-fencing Enforcement Act of 2009, sponsored by Rep. Robert Scott of Virginia.

Remarks to our lawmakers-

My question to our Representatives is, "Why can't you add a simple addendum to the already existing laws referencing and regarding the issues, policies and laws for combating the sales of stolen goods in retail locations?"

You certainly could get back to work on resolving the issues for of our slowing economy; and save the tax payer dollars in time not spent on duplicate legislation!

Let me help guide you on factual observation;

01	These bills separate out e-commerce and online marketplaces for discriminatory treatment.
02	Selling stolen products in retail stores on the street, or online is already illegal.
03	Cumbersome and complex online program implementation within marketplaces could hinder economic sales growth on the Internet.
04	Small businesses and small sellers on the Internet would be presented as illegal sellers and assumed their products were stolen.
05	Blatantly stifles competition on the Internet!
